Grand Prix week booking timeline: what sells out first, and when to book each piece
Published 21 October 2026
The 73rd Macau Grand Prix runs Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 November 2026 on the Guia street circuit: practice and qualifying on Thursday and Friday, the main races on Saturday and Sunday. From today, Wednesday 21 October, that is four weeks away. A Grand Prix trip has four bookable pieces: race tickets, a room, the Hong Kong ferry and flights. They do not sell out in the order most people book them, and booking them in the wrong order is how a planned race weekend quietly falls apart. Here is the order they actually go, where each one stands today, and a week-by-week countdown to race week.
How to use this page: work down the sell-out order, not down your to-do list. Tickets first, because the weekend stands are nearly gone. Then the room, then the crossings, then flights. If you only do one thing today, make it the ticket.
The sell-out order, honestly
1. Weekend grandstand tickets: first to go, nearly gone
Grand Prix tickets went on sale on 9 October 2026, and the weekend went fast. On the official listing, checked on 17 October 2026, Saturday 21 November had only Reservoir Stand standard seats (MOP 400) left, and Sunday 22 November only Lisboa Bend seats (MOP 1,200); the Grand Stand and the rest of the weekend allocation were sold out. What remains bookable is the bundle our ticket and ferry package guide decodes in full: a weekend stand ticket paired with a one-way Cotai Water Jet ferry from Hong Kong, in three stands, from US$55.69 (Reservoir), US$95.59 (Grand Stand) and US$148.45 (Lisboa Bend), all three tiers available when checked on the live product page on 21 October 2026. Confirmation is instant and bookings cannot be cancelled or refunded, so check your dates twice. One soft spot remains: Thursday 19 and Friday 20 November, practice and qualifying, were still MOP 100 in all three stands on the official listing. If you can add a day, it is the cheapest Grand Prix viewing there is, and our sister site's tickets guide covers it stand by stand.

2. Track-view hotel rooms: second, and the clock is audible
Hotels do not sell out in one clean moment like tickets. Instead the good inventory thins and the price climbs, which fools people into thinking they still have time. Six hotels sit on the circuit with track-facing rooms, covered in full in our Grand Prix hotel views guide: Artyzen Grand Lapa, StarWorld, Wynn Macau, Hotel Lisboa, Waldo Hotel and Hotel Guia. The smallest goes first: Hotel Guia has only 90 rooms. Remember that a track-facing room is a request, not a room type, so ask explicitly and get it confirmed in writing. Three of the six to check first:
If the trackside six are gone or priced out of reach, the fallback is a Cotai Strip hotel from our hotel deals and a taxi or bus to the circuit, allowing generous extra time on race days when roads around the circuit close.
3. Hong Kong ferries: third, sailing by sailing
Ferries do not sell out as a route; individual sailings do. The two that go first are the Saturday morning crossings into Macau and the Sunday evening crossings back to Hong Kong after the racing. The ticket bundle above includes one one-way Cotai Water Jet sailing, Sheung Wan to Taipa, about an hour, with the time chosen when you book. Your return sailing is separate, and the single most common Grand Prix week mistake is leaving it unbooked. Book both directions in the same sitting. Our Macau ferry guide compares the operators and terminals, and our Hong Kong to Macau guide covers the bridge bus as the pressure valve when peak sailings fill.

Book the Sunday evening return at the same time as the way in.
4. Flights: last to go, first to get expensive
Flights into Macau and Hong Kong rarely vanish outright, but fares step up as race week approaches and the convenient arrival times go first. Two timing notes. If you fly into Hong Kong and hold a bundle ticket, the routing works in your favour: the physical race ticket is collected in Sheung Wan, in the same Shun Tak Centre complex as the ferry terminal, so you can land, collect and sail in one movement. If you fly straight into Macau, you would still need that Sheung Wan pickup before your first race day, so price the Hong Kong routing before you commit to the direct one.
The countdown: week by week
- Now, four weeks out (21 to 25 October): tickets. Decide your stand this week. Weekend seats through official channels are down to single stands per day, and the Klook bundle is the remaining bookable route. If the budget is tight, Thursday and Friday at MOP 100 are still there.
- Three weeks out (26 October to 1 November): the room. Lock the hotel, trackside if you can, and get the track-facing request confirmed in writing. This is also the week to stop waiting for a price drop: Grand Prix weekend prices move one way.
- Two weeks out (2 to 8 November): ferries and flights. Choose your sailings both ways and book them, then flights if you still need them. Arriving early? The Grand Prix Family Carnival runs at Tap Seac Square on 7 and 8 November, a free warm-up with the cars up close.
- One week out (9 to 15 November): the pickup plan. The Sheung Wan collection desk for bundle tickets opens on 14 November and runs daily, 10:00 to 17:00, through race weekend. Plan to collect before your first race day if you can, and keep the voucher handy: the e-voucher alone does not get you into the grandstand. The Grand Prix Auto Show runs 14 and 15 November if you are already in town.
- Race week (16 to 22 November): racing from Thursday. Roads around the Guia Circuit close on race days and traffic slows to a crawl, so build buffer into every movement, carry the physical ticket, and pack earplugs if your room faces the track.
If you are reading this late
The order does not change, it just compresses. What tends to remain longest is exactly what remains now: Thursday and Friday tickets, Cotai rooms instead of trackside ones, and mid-day ferries instead of the peak sailings. A Grand Prix trip built from those leftovers is still a very good trip. It just is not the trip that was available in September, and it will not be improved by waiting another week.
Grand Prix booking timeline FAQ
When is the 2026 Macau Grand Prix?
Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 November 2026, the 73rd edition, on the Guia street circuit. Thursday and Friday are practice and qualifying; the main races run on Saturday and Sunday.
What sells out first for Grand Prix week?
Weekend grandstand tickets go first, then track-view hotel rooms at the six trackside hotels, then the popular Hong Kong ferry sailings (Saturday morning in, Sunday evening back). Flights rarely sell out completely, but fares climb as the weekend fills.
Are weekend Grand Prix tickets still available?
Barely, through official channels. On the official listing checked 17 October 2026, Saturday 21 November had only Reservoir Stand standard seats (MOP 400) left and Sunday 22 November only Lisboa Bend seats (MOP 1,200); the other weekend stands were sold out. The bookable route that remains is the Klook weekend ticket plus Hong Kong ferry bundle, from US$55.69 as checked on 21 October 2026. Thursday and Friday tickets were still MOP 100 in all stands.
When should I book a track-view hotel room?
Now. The six trackside hotels are finite, the smallest (Hotel Guia) has only 90 rooms, and track-facing rooms are a subset of every hotel's inventory. Ask for a track-facing room explicitly and get it confirmed in writing.
When and where do I collect the physical ticket?
If you book the Klook bundle, the race ticket is physical and is collected at Shop 3040, 3/F, Shun Tak Centre, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong, on any day from 14 to 22 November 2026, 10:00 to 17:00. The ferry terminal is in the same complex, so you can collect and sail in one trip.
