Everyone asks it at the hotel lobby: is dinner really worth double the price of lunch? We checked the actual listed prices at seven of Macau's hotel buffets on 3 October 2026, and the short answer is that dinner costs anywhere from 60% to 170% more than lunch. The longer answer, with the numbers, is below. If you are new to how the sessions work, our buffet playbook covers the system, and the buffet guide lists all seventeen buffets with bookable tickets.
Adult prices in MOP, weekday rates, before the 10% service charge that nearly every buffet adds. Weekend prices run higher; the listing is the source of truth.
Biggest gap
The Grand Buffet, Grand Lisboa Palace
Weekday lunch MOP 328, weekday dinner MOP 888. That 560 pataca gap is the widest in Macau, and it buys something real: dinner adds cook-to-order live seafood stations, and from Friday to Sunday the outdoor barbecue runs too. Lunch is the same grand room and most of the same spread without the theatre.
The math: two people doing lunch instead of dinner save MOP 1,120 before service charge. That is a second meal somewhere else entirely. Book dinner only if the seafood stations are the reason you came.

BELCANÇÃO, Four Seasons
Weekday lunch MOP 258+, weekday dinner MOP 538+. Dinner more than doubles lunch here, which makes the Four Seasons' calm, window-lined dining room one of the better value lunches in Cotai. Note the "+" on both prices: the source listing marks them as starting prices.
The math: lunch saves MOP 280 a head on weekdays, MOP 310 on weekends. If a polished room matters more to you than a maximalist spread, this lunch is the sweet spot.

Cheapest lunch
Round-The-Clock Buffet, Grand Lisboa
Weekday lunch MOP 200, weekday dinner MOP 400. Two hundred patacas is the cheapest weekday lunch of any major buffet we checked, in the landmark hotel on the peninsula. Dinner doubles it exactly, and festive dinners run to MOP 600.
The math: at MOP 200 before service charge, this is the lowest-risk way to try a Macau hotel buffet. Dinner at double the price needs to be a deliberate choice, not a default.

Urban Kitchen, JW Marriott
Weekday lunch MOP 358, weekday dinner MOP 638. Six live cooking stations and a seafood bar run at both sessions, so lunch here is genuinely close to the full experience. The 280 pataca gap is paying mostly for the evening atmosphere.
The math: this is the lunch we would pick if the stations matter more than the hour. Same cooking theatres, 44% less money.

360° Café, Macau Tower
Lunch MOP 348, dinner MOP 568. The structure differs here, not just the price: lunch runs as two 90-minute seatings (11:30 and 13:30), while dinner is one long 3.5-hour session from 18:30. The revolving view costs the same at any hour, which is rather the point.
The math: you are paying MOP 220 extra for a slower evening and the night view. If the panorama is the reason you are going up the tower, lunch gets you the same rotation for less.

Café Bela Vista, Artyzen Grand Lapa
The honest entry: there is no lunch buffet to compare. Lunch is the Market Lunch, a semi-buffet (appetizer and dessert buffet plus one main course) at MOP 238, or MOP 188 without the main. The full dinner buffet runs Friday to Sunday only, at MOP 398+, with free-flow soft drinks, coffee and tea.
The math: this is not a lunch-vs-dinner decision, it is a format decision. Want the full buffet? It has to be a weekend dinner. Want a weekday feed near the old town? The Market Lunch is the play.

Jai Alai Buffet
The dedicated seafood buffet on the waterfront, with both lunch and dinner listed. We could not verify current MOP prices from a readable source, so we are not printing guesses; the listing shows the live price. What we can say: dinner runs 17:00 to 22:30, the longest dinner session of any buffet we checked, at five and a half hours.
The math: if you eat slowly and seafood is the mission, the long dinner session is the argument here. Check the listing for the current price before deciding.

Most of the time, honestly. Weekday lunch is the cheapest way into every major Macau buffet, the rooms are quieter, and at places like Urban Kitchen and the 360° Café you get nearly the full experience. The Grand Lisboa's MOP 200 weekday lunch is the standout value on the peninsula; BELCANÇÃO's MOP 258+ lunch is the standout in Cotai. If your trip already has a big dinner planned elsewhere, lunch is the obvious second buffet.
Dinner earns its premium in three cases. One, the premium stations only run at dinner: the live seafood and weekend barbecue at The Grand Buffet are the clearest example. Two, you want the long evening: the 360° Café's 3.5-hour dinner seating and Jai Alai's 5.5-hour session are built for lingering. Three, it is the weekend and lunch is nearly as expensive anyway; the weekend uplift narrows the gap at several buffets, so check both before assuming.
Questions
Is lunch or dinner cheaper at Macau buffets?
Lunch, by a wide margin. Across the buffets we checked, dinner costs 60 to 170% more than lunch for an adult. Weekday lunch is the cheapest way into every major Macau hotel buffet.
What is the biggest lunch vs dinner price gap in Macau?
The Grand Buffet at Grand Lisboa Palace: MOP 328 for weekday lunch against MOP 888 for weekday dinner, a gap of MOP 560 before the 10% service charge. Dinner adds cook-to-order live seafood and, on weekends, an outdoor barbecue.
Do Macau buffet prices include the service charge?
Usually not. Nearly every hotel buffet adds 10% on top of the listed price, so budget for it. The prices in this article are before service charge unless stated.
When is dinner worth the extra money?
When the premium items are the point of your visit: live seafood stations, the outdoor barbecue at Grand Lisboa Palace on weekends, or a long unhurried evening. If you mainly want the spread and the room, lunch gives you most of it for far less.
