Grand Prix week in Macau: what hotel prices actually do, and when to book
Published 25 October 2026
Everyone expects Macau hotel prices to explode for the Grand Prix, and everyone expects the giant Cotai resorts to lead the charge. We tested both assumptions on 25 October 2026, pricing the same three nights at five hotels for Grand Prix weekend (19 to 22 November 2026) and for the weekends either side of it. The surge is real. It is just not where people think. The two smaller peninsula hotels beside the circuit had nearly tripled and jumped by almost three quarters, while The Venetian and The Parisian charged no Grand Prix premium at all. And one hotel could not be booked for race weekend at any price.

US$849 for the three Grand Prix nights, checked 25 October 2026; live price at checkout. The cheapest of the five hotels we priced for race weekend, and the rate we saw could be cancelled free until 16 November.
How we checked
- Five hotels, both sides of Macau. In Cotai: The Venetian Macao, The Parisian Macao and Galaxy Hotel. On the peninsula, beside the Guia Circuit: Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau and Hotel Lisboa.
- The same stay every time. Three nights, Thursday in and Sunday out, one room, two adults, the cheapest rate shown on Trip.com, in US dollars. Trip.com shows these totals with taxes and fees included, and so do we. Per-night figures are the three-night total divided by three.
- Three weekends. Grand Prix weekend, 19 to 22 November 2026, the weekend before (12 to 15 November) and the weekend after (26 to 29 November), all checked on 25 October 2026.
- One honest limit. This is a snapshot, taken 25 days before the race. Prices will move, and the live price at booking is the one that counts. What a snapshot can show, and what this one does show, is where the Grand Prix premium sits right now, and where it does not.
The numbers: three weekends, five hotels
| Hotel | 12 to 15 Nov (before) | 19 to 22 Nov (Grand Prix) | 26 to 29 Nov (after) |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Venetian Macao | US$1,119 (US$373.00 a night) | US$1,088 (US$362.67 a night) | US$985 (US$328.33 a night) |
| The Parisian Macao | US$911 (US$303.67 a night) | US$849 (US$283.00 a night) | US$798 (US$266.00 a night) |
| Galaxy Hotel | US$1,261 (US$420.33 a night) | No availability | No availability |
| Artyzen Grand Lapa | US$410 (US$136.67 a night) | US$1,171 (US$390.33 a night) | US$417 (US$139.00 a night) |
| Hotel Lisboa | US$505 (US$168.33 a night) | US$871 (US$290.33 a night) | US$494 (US$164.67 a night) |
The cheapest room on offer changes a little by date: The Venetian showed its Royale Deluxe Suite on all three weekends and The Parisian its Deluxe King Room, while Artyzen Grand Lapa showed a Deluxe Room before and during the Grand Prix and a Deluxe Twin after, and Hotel Lisboa showed a Standard Room either side of race weekend and a Deluxe Room (Twin) for the Grand Prix itself. Cancellation terms split the table cleanly: The Venetian and The Parisian rates could be cancelled free (until 11:59 PM on 16 November for the Grand Prix stay), while the Artyzen, Lisboa and Galaxy rates were non-refundable.
The surge is on the peninsula, next to the circuit
Artyzen Grand Lapa sits beside the Grand Prix circuit, and its pricing shows it. The three Grand Prix nights cost US$1,171, which is 185.6% above the weekend before (US$410) and 180.8% above the weekend after (US$417). It is the single biggest Grand Prix jump in our set, and the rates on show for race weekend ran up to US$1,628. On an ordinary November weekend this is a US$137-a-night hotel.
Hotel Lisboa, the old landmark at the circuit's end of the peninsula, tells the same story at a lower pitch: US$871 for the Grand Prix weekend, up 72.5% on the weekend before (US$505) and 76.3% on the weekend after (US$494), with rates shown up to US$1,289.
The pattern is not mysterious. These are comparatively small hotels a short walk from the track, the ones teams, media and repeat race fans aim at first. With far fewer rooms to sell, the cheap ones go early, and what is left gets repriced. If you had booked either hotel a month earlier, you would likely have paid ordinary November prices. By 25 October, that window had closed, and both Grand Prix rates were non-refundable, so what you see now is a take-it-or-leave-it price.

The Cotai surprise: no Grand Prix premium at the big resorts
Now the counterintuitive half. The Venetian's Grand Prix weekend, US$1,088 for the three nights, is 2.8% below its price for the weekend before (US$1,119) and 10.5% above the weekend after (US$985). The Parisian's US$849 is 6.8% below the weekend before (US$911) and 6.4% above the weekend after (US$798). In plain terms, neither resort was charging a race premium when we checked. Their Grand Prix prices sit inside their own ordinary November range.
Put the two halves of the table together and the usual advice inverts. For Grand Prix weekend, The Parisian costs less than the Hotel Lisboa (US$849 against US$871), and The Venetian costs less than Artyzen Grand Lapa (US$1,088 against US$1,171). The famous resorts also hold the friendlier terms: both Grand Prix rates could be cancelled free until 11:59 PM on 16 November. Huge hotels price to fill thousands of rooms, and on 25 October, race week was still being priced like any other week.

Galaxy: the hotel you cannot book
Galaxy Hotel's page carried no price at all for Grand Prix weekend. It said the hotel is not currently accepting bookings, and it said the same for the weekend after (26 to 29 November), while happily selling the weekend before at US$1,261 for three nights, the highest total in our set.
Read that message for what it is: on 25 October, Trip.com had no bookable Galaxy rooms for those dates. It does not prove the hotel is sold out everywhere, and rooms can reappear if inventory is released or plans change. But if Galaxy is the hotel you want for race week, Trip.com cannot sell it to you right now, and waiting means betting that bookable rooms turn up. The priced alternatives above are bookable today.

When to book: what the pattern tells you
If you want Cotai, book now, on a free-cancellation rate. A Grand Prix price that ignores the biggest weekend of the Macau year is unlikely to stay ignored as the race gets closer and rooms fill. On 25 October, The Venetian and The Parisian were both priced at or below their neighbouring weekends for race week, and both rates could be cancelled free until 16 November. Holding one costs you nothing if your plans change, and protects you if the premium arrives late.
If you want to sleep beside the circuit, the bargain window has closed. Artyzen Grand Lapa at US$1,171 and Hotel Lisboa at US$871, both non-refundable, are the prices now. Book only if the trip is certain. Waiting is a bet that other race fans cancel; everything in this table says the direction of travel at these two hotels is up.
If your dates can move, the weekend after the race is the value play. It was the cheapest of the three weekends at The Venetian (US$985), The Parisian (US$798) and Hotel Lisboa (US$494), with the city back to normal and the Grand Prix crowds gone.
Still need race tickets? Rooms are only half the trip. Both of our ticket partners sell tickets for the 73rd Macau Grand Prix, 19 to 22 November 2026: Klook's option bundles a stand ticket with Cotai Water Jet ferry tickets from Hong Kong, and KKday sells the race tickets on their own.

The one-line verdict: for the 2026 Grand Prix, book the big Cotai resorts at ordinary prices while they last, and treat the small trackside hotels as already repriced, because on the evidence of 25 October, they are.

Its Trip.com page said it was not currently accepting bookings for 19 to 22 November, and for 26 to 29 November, when checked on 25 October 2026, although it was selling 12 to 15 November at US$1,261 for three nights. That means Trip.com had no bookable Galaxy inventory for those dates at that moment; it does not prove every channel is sold out.

Almost certainly. This article is a snapshot from 25 October 2026, 25 days before the race. Macau hotel prices move with remaining inventory, sometimes daily in race week. The live price and terms are the ones shown when you book.
